X-cart Improved Checkout
Customised modification to improve your checkout.
Overview
What we are trying to do with our checkout, is to follow what the industry would say is the best practice for a checkout. Something that the standard x-cart one fails to do. Of course, each market place is different and so what works for one person, doesn't for another. But generally we need to:
- remove distractions - ie stop people wandering off from the checkout and not coming back
- keep people informed - tell them where they are, what happens next, when they are actually committing to something
- show the progress
- keep them reassurred - make sure they know it is safe to shop
- keep the steps as short as possible
To do this, we remove all navigation items from the checkout. We improve upon the X-cart text which is not that informative, (being Russian software, it is expected.) We put the login and register forms together on one page.
We can use a progress bar if required. Provide information that is relevant to the checkout, e.g payment methods accepted, etc.
