The Brief |
| Despite a Google Adwords campaign and an enthusiastic owner - this site was failing to win orders. However, it was a pretty out of the box version 3 X-Cart, with a basic logo and no branding. However, with low sales, there was little budget with which to produce a confidence building online shop. |
The Work - Step 1
| After manually updating the database to fit X-cart version 4, the new shop was installed and the old skin and mods integrated. |
The Work - Step 2
| With little budget, in order to keep costs to a minimum, the entire logo, branding and design function was kept in house without using any specialised graphic and design houses. An entire skin and logo was therefore done from scratch and integrated into the x-cart shop. |

Added extras
Breaking the header - X-cart be design splits the shop into several parts, primarily a header and the main shop below. It is usually very easy to see the join on an X-Cart shop where the header meets the main site. However, we have tried to break the join here so that it is less obvious.
Having altered the site design from one that spreads to fit any page to one constrained in width to 800 pixels, some of the larger product images would no longer fit the new site. Instead of redoing all the product images - code was written to dynamically resize any image over a certain size to fit the shop. |
